A last minute try from Ireland captain Brian O'Driscoll denied the Wallabies a second Grand Slam tour victory as Ireland came from behind to earn a 20-20 draw from a titanic battle at Croke Park on Sunday afternoon in Dublin.
An entertaining first half saw both sides look to attack and, while only one try was scored, both teams had chances to attack and were stretched on defence.
Drew Mitchell's try after just two minutes certainly put Ireland on the back foot but O'Driscoll's men recovered well and, with Wycliff Palu in the sin bin, put the visitors under pressure in the closing stages of the first period.
The second half was an equally entertaining affair with a try from Rocky Elsom seemingly securing the match for Australia before, after ten minutes of determined attack, O'Driscoll cut through the Wallaby line to draw the scores level on the stroke of full time.
Dominating the scrum and the breakdown Australia looked good for the win for much of the match but it was just not to be.
David Pocock, Quade Cooper and Elsom all impressed for the visitors while, for the home side, Paul O'Connell, Cian Healy and Tommy Bowe all worked tirelessly.
Man of the Match: Young Australian flank David Pocock was everywhere and a constant pain for Ireland at the breakdown. His carrying on Sunday though was just as impressive and he was deservedly named as the pick of the crop at Croke Park.
Moment of the match: Right before the 78th minute it looked set to be Rocky Elsom's try but Brian O'Driscoll's last minute equalizer stole the show. A gap which seemingly came out of nowhere gave the Irish captain, playing his 100th match, the chance to save his team from defeat.
Villain of the Match: Wycliff Palu spent ten minutes in the bin but it was a harsh call. Two teams intent on playing attacking rugby, there really wasn't too much off the ball to talk about.
