Western Province flyhalf Demetri Catrakilis is heading to Eastern Province as he looks for more game-time and Super Rugby action with the Kings.
Catrakilis starred for WP in last season’s Currie Cup campaign after injuries opened the door for him to start in the number 10 jersey. The UCT Ikeys star took his opportunity with both hands with some commanding performances at pivot.
But this season, he has been unable to break into the Stormers Super Rugby squad and has now signed on with EP for two years.
Catrakilis joins the team in November and is keen to grow under the guidance of coach Alan Solomons in the Eastern Cape.
“I’m very excited to start my journey at the Kings,” he said of the move, adding that he is excited to get an opportunity to play Super Rugby.
“Yes, very much so! I’ve been waiting for this opportunity [Super Rugby] for a while.”
The young flyhalf admitted that he was keen to work with Solomons.
“I’ve heard a lot about him [Solomons]. I’m really looking forward to working with him and it’s great that he has confidence in me.”
“I am just looking forward to training hard and getting better under the EP structures.”
