Toulouse star Frederic Michalak earned his first call-up to the France squad since the 2007 World Cup when he replaced scrumhalf Sebastien Tillous-Borde, who pulled out injured on Monday for their final Six Nations match with Italy.

The 26 year-old — capped 50 times and who can play either at scrumhalf or flyhalf — moved to South Africa to play for the Sharks last year and had failed to regain favour with present France coach Marc Lievremont since returning to play for Toulouse.

France will be bidding to bounce back from the 34-10 drubbing they received at the hands of England in Sunday's Six Nations match.

Lievremont has made the point repeatedly that he sees Michalak as more of a number nine than a flyhalf — this despite the fact that the talented playmaker himself seems to prefer the number 10 slot.
