The Waratahs held on for a dreary 14-10 win over the Western Force in Perth on Saturday in what easily rates as the most boring game of the Super 14 season.

The teams scored one try each in a game that never reached any great heights of excitement, except for the last five minutes when both teams tried - desperation - to seal the win.

The rest of the match was an endless mixture of poor skills, ordinary option taking, resent scrum, collapsed scrums, penalties, free kicks and lateral movements by two teams with no penetration.

The only positive, for the Force, to come out of the game is that they collected their first points of the season - a losing bonus point.

And the Waratahs will celebrate the win because it moved them to fourth on the standings, but in reality they did not look like a team that belongs in play-off contention.
