Wallaby coach Robbie Deans expect the Springboks to be "primed" for an all-out onslaught when the two teams meet in Perth on Saturday, as the South Africans push for a victory that could go a long way towards sealing their third Tri-Nations series triumph.
While Australia are with their backs to the wall, needing a bonus-point win just to keep alive their slim hopes of staying in the competition, the table-topping Boks can virtually wrap up the series with what will be their fourth consecutive win in this year's competition - if they can beat the Aussies.
Deans, despite having seen his team throw away a lead in all three of their Tri-Nations Test this year, remains adamant that Australia have to god to end the Boks' victory run.
"The Springboks are going to be primed full stop." Deans said.
"They have an opportunity to secure the Tri-Nations, have done the bulk of the work already and will want to finish it off.
"They are a team that is very keen to add something further to their collection, and that's evident.
"They are very well led and have sorted the game that suits them and play to their strengths, but we've shown that we are more than capable of competing."
Flyhalf Matt Giteau also believes that his team could end their run of defeats and at the same time open up the Tri-Nations race.
Giteau, who has shouldered a lot of the blame for the 18-19 loss to the All Blacks last week, has been working on his kicking game to counter the South Africans' effective kick-and-chase tactics.
Giteau had his low skidding kicks charged down several times by the All Blacks, with one leading to the only try of the match.
"I was charged down a few times and that was due to poor execution and it's something I've worked on this week," Giteau said.
He admitted that the injury-enforced absence of inside centre Berrick Barnes has given him added responsibility.
"I do need to step up and the last two Tests I haven't kicked as well as I would have liked."

Got something to say?
