Former Mamelodi Sundowns star Alex Bapela has expressed his delight after he was appointed as the club's second local assistant coach.

Bapela, who spent some time in the scouting department, joins Harold Legodi as another local assistant on the Sundowns bench

"I am impressed by the level of professionalism the coach has and I hope it will rub off of Harold Legodi and myself," Bapela told Sundowns official website.

He added: "This season we will play an attractive type of football and that is what Sundowns has always played - shoe shine and piano.

"I am learning a lot on the technical side as the coach believes in consulting on everything he does and wants our input all the time."

Bapela, who was a marvel to watch during his heydays at Sundowns, used to don the number 8 jersey now worn by Teko Modise.

Meanwhile, Musa Nyatama, who has returned to Sundowns after a season-long loan at Maritzburg United, intends on reaching his full potential this season in the famous Brazilian colours.

"Last season I gained a lot of game time in Maritzburg and I am grateful for the opportunity Maritzburg afforded me," he said.

"I think I am adapting well and getting on well with my teammates and looking forward to the new season.

"This season is going to be tricky as there will be a break for the Nations Cup which could affect the players in either way, it will break the rhythm yet will allow the teams to recuperate from a compact half season," concluded Nyatama.
