Onismor Bhasera's move from Kaizer Chiefs to Portsmouth has been stalled by contractual issues and not money the English club insists.

Chiefs football manager Bobby Motaung revealed it was the Premier League side's financial woes that played a major part in halting the Zimbabwean's move.

But Pompey released a statement on their official website contradicting Motaung's claim.

"The situation is that Onismor believes he is a free agent and Kaizer Chiefs say he isn't, so we have asked FIFA to look into it to enable us to progress with the move.

"We have successfully appealed a work permit and want the player to sign for Pompey but he can only do so once we know the true nature of his registration.

"This has absolutely nothing whatsoever to do with finance and to suggest such is misguided and inaccurate," the statement read.
