Chiefs go for the win

Kaizer Chiefs coach Vladimir Vermezovic says his team will go for a win when they face Ajax Cape Town in the first leg of the MTN8 at Newlands Stadium on Saturday night (kick-off 8.15pm).
"It is important to score a goal in the away leg, as it is difficult to play the second leg if you are on zero. Every game we play to win and against Ajax it will be the same," Vermezovic told the Cape Times.
Vermezovic played down suggestions that the presence of former Chiefs coach Muhsin Ertugral in the Ajax bench will give the 'Urban Warriors' an added edge over 'Amakhosi'.
"I don't have pressure. It will be pleasure for me to meet Muhsin Ertugral. Only good coaches can work with Kaizer Chiefs," said Vermezovic.
Vermezovic said he was impressed with Ajax in their two recent games against Orlando Pirates. Ajax knocked Pirates out of the MTN8, and were a little unlucky to narrowly lose their Absa Premiership opener on the weekend.
"I watched the two games and I think they are a team with a lot of speed and they put a lot of pressure on opponents' defenders. But we are going to make our plans."
Chiefs have traditionally struggled on their trips to Cape Town, but Vermezovic believes it might be time for a change.
"Tradition is there to be destroyed. Maybe from next week it will be better for us. We destroyed tradition against Santos. Last season we lost to them twice and now we drew (in Saturday's league game).
"... it is simple - if you want to win the cup, you have to beat everyone," continued Vermezovic.
Meanwhile, Chiefs midfielder David Mathebula said he was excited to play against his former coach.
"It's exciting to play a semifinal, against my old coach, or against another coach, it is not a problem. I just want to play the semifinal and hopefully I will go through," said Mathebula.
"I try to learn from all the coaches who coach me. He is one of the coaches who came here, so I learnt something from him, and I will learn something from the new coach," explained Mathebula.
"I think I have started this season well, but there is always room for improvement, and I will be working hard to improve on little mistakes," concluded Mathebula.
