Gordon Igesund has hinted he will make changes to his Free State Stars line up when 'Ea Lla Koto' tackle Ajax Cape Town on Wednesday night.

The four-time PSL winning coach saw his charges suffer a 1-0 derby defeat against Bloemfontein Celtic on Sunday afternoon, which was his first game at the helm after departing Maritzburg United.

Stars are sitting in an uncomfortable 13th spot in the standings and Igesund admits it will be tough to whip them into top-eight shape.

"This is a great challenge for me and I relish challenges. The players are good and what is lacking is confidence," he said.

"But I will soon get that right. Also the players looked nervous against Celtic, but that will change once I have had more time to work with them and rebuild the spirit."

Igesund didn't make any changes to the 'Ea Lla Koto' side ahead of the clash with their neighbours, but after assessing the squad, he is set to shuffle his pack against Ajax.

"I did not want to come in and change things around until I had a look at the side and what I had," added the coach.

"I had a first hand look on Sunday and now know where to fix things."

Igesund could have secured victory in his debut game for Stars had Duncan Lechesa stuck away his penalty in the 49th minute.

"Had Lechesa scored then, we would have won the game as I would have closed up shop. Football365.co.za

"But sadly, the winning goal was a deflection from our defender (Jonathan) Mensah. That was also unlucky, but while there is plenty of work ahead, I reckon we can achieve our goal of a top eight finish as there were a lot of positives to come out of the game," concluded Igesund.
