Mpumalanga Blacks Aces came back from a goal down to hold Platinum Stars to a 1-1 draw in the Absa Premiership encounter at Ackerville Stadium on Saturday.
Stars led 1-0 at the break from the boot of hard-working striker
Elton Meiring in the 20th minute.
Aces tried to equalise using their short passing but found the
rear guard of Stars difficult to break.
Both teams came back strongly in the second half after team
talks from their respective coaches, aiming for more goals.
The home side were awarded a penalty in the 67th minute after a
foul in the box and no-nonsense referee Robert Smith pointed to the
spot without hesitation, with Sibusiso Themba equalising for Black
Aces.
That goal would have brought a smile to the face of Aces coach
Sammy Troughton, along with the supporters who came in big numbers
to support the home team.
Stars coach Steve Komphela would also have been a happy man at
the end, collecting a point away from home.
