The current Premiership pace-setters hit the cross-bar as early as the 19th minute when Bryce Moon used the wind to his advantage, with a curled free-kick over Stars goalkeeper Kennedy Mwene.

Departing Ajax striker Thembinkosi 'Tera' Fanteni threatened with a blistering run into the Stars box but his shot shaved the upright.

It was all Ajax in the first half as the visitors struggled to deal with the Cape's windy conditions. 'Urban Warriors' defender Eduardo Ferreira used his aerial prowess to climb over the Stars defence but put his header wide.

A 0-0 scoreline was all the sides could muster in the first half.

Although the second half promised plenty, bad decision-making on the part of Ajax proved a let-off for Stars. Ajax's midfield workhorse Eyong Enoh had time to control a pass from Fanteni but he opted to have a crack first-time and saw his shot sail over the bar.

Stars then had the opportunity to take the lead when they were awarded a penalty after Ajax defender Dominic Isaacs brought down Moses Mbuyane in the penalty area. However, Sifiso Vilakazi failed to convert from the spot, much to the delight of the home fans.

The teams had to settle for a draw and shared the points, although Stars will feel they should have stolen what would have been a valuable three points on the road.
