Carlos Alberto Perreira could be on his way to South Africa but not as the coach of Bafana Bafana.

Ajax Cape Town CEO George Comitis revealed the former Brazilian national coach was one of candidates the club has made contact with.

The Urban Warriors were inundated with applications for the position and had over 30 submissions.

Comitis said Perreira and Bafana's Pitso Mosimane were the only two names he could disclose.

"The person who we have tried to make contacted with in Brazil who does not have a job is Carlos Alberto Perreira. Someone else who is of high interest to us, depending on what happens with his Bafana career is Pitso Mosimane."

Comitis added there was not certainty over Perreira's arrival.

"Its not necessarily a done confirmed deal, but we also have to be careful because you can't bring in a coach who will change the system too much straight away and upset the applecart. So for us a Dutch influence is very important."
