SuperSport United coach Gavin Hunt has vowed to make wholesale changes should he be elected as the new Bafana Bafana boss.
The former Moroka Swallows mentor is one of the favourites to take over the reins of the national team after former coach Joel Santana was shown the door on Monday.
Hunt, Jomo Sono, Clive Barker and Brazilian Carlos Alberto Parreira have emerged as the front-runners to lead South Africa to the 2010 World Cup on home soil.
Whoever is chosen for the vacant position is sure to have their hands full as they as they attempt to turn around the fortunes of an ailing Bafana side that have tasted defeat in eight of their last nine games.
But Hunt, who has led 'Matsatsansa' to two consecutive league titles, feels that big changes need to be made if Bafana are to be competitive at next year's showpiece.
"It's unfortunate you know, but it's a results business and we all understand, you know I am in the business," he told Football365.co.za of Santana's departure.
"I think any South African who works in the business would like an opportunity to handle the national team, I would certainly make a lot of changes if I had to take over."
Hunt along with Sono and Barker were asked to evaluate South Africa's last game. a 1-0 loss to Iceland , but he insists their assessment has nothing to do with Santana vacating the position.
"No, we haven't even handed the assessment in yet," he said.
Assistant coaches Pitso Mosimane and Jairo Leal are currently acting in a care-taker coach capacity until the South African Football Association reveal the identity of the new Bafana coach at a meeting on Friday.
