Bloemfontein Celtic hitman Prince Olomu is hoping to continue with his impressive early season form as he aims to break into the Nigerian team.

The former Enyimba midfielder has netted five goals in seven games for Phunya Sele Sele so far this season meaning he is second in the PSL's scoring charts.

The 22-year-old netted an injury-time winner against Soweto giants Kaizer Chiefs on Wednesday night to take Celtic up to third in the table, but nonetheless, he has refused to get carried away with their great start to the season.

He told Football365.co.za: "It feels great to score the winning goal against Chiefs.

"But for now you can't predict, but we are just trying to finish amongst the top eight

"I don't know if the Nigerian selectors have noticed me. I'm just trying to do my job and if I manage to catch there eyes it will be a bonus to me."

The Super Eagles are struggling to qualify for the 2010 World Cup as they trail Tunisia by two points with two games to play, but the former Free State Stars ace is hoping for a miracle.

He continued: "I believe that maybe we may miraculously qualify for the 2010 World Cup because if we don't make it, it is going to be a big blow to Nigerian soccer."

Olomu believes that the success he has had this term can largely be attributed to all the hard work he has put in since joining the club and has praised Celtic boss Owen da Gama for the influence he has had on him.

"Hard work, it hasn't been easy at all, but I have kept up with the hard work and kept praying and kept working according to my plan," he said

"He (da Gama) has had a big influence on me because he is the type of coach that tells the player the truth about what he thinks of the player and through that he makes you work harder to keep correcting your mistakes.

"The more you limit your mistakes, the more you do greater things, he has a great influence on me and the team."

The Maiduguri-born player is now looking to pick things up where he left off when Celtic travel to Moroka Swallows on Sunday.

"I think we will try to take it from where we left off against Moroka Swallows on Sunday," he concluded.
