Jomo Cosmos are in desperate need of points and will be hoping to pick some up when they host Bloemfontein Celtic in an Absa Premiership match at the Rand Stadium on Wednesday evening (kick-off 7.30pm).

Currently sitting at the bottom of the league table, Cosmos have strung a decent run of form together, going unbeaten in their last five matches. Although they have not lost a game they have only managed one win in those matches with the others being drawn.

Cosmos' most recent match saw them play to an exciting 2-2 draw against Kaizer Chiefs.

"If we take our performance against Kaizer Chiefs last Saturday into this game, we are sure to beat Celtic. We had the right attitude going into that game and it has upped our spirit and morale to the extent that we believe we will get a result on Wednesday," Cosmos captain Avril Phali told the club's official website.

He added: "We all know how good Celtic are and we are not about to take anything for granted. We must be careful of how we approach the game and give them the respect they deserve.

"But that is where the niceties will end as we are going to fight to the last man. Look, we need the three points more than they do and we will be playing at home and their 12th player (Celtic fans) won't be there in the same manner they do when they play at home. We have a job to do and are ready for anything they can throw at us."

Celtic will also be coming into this game of the back of a draw. In their most recent league match they had to come from behind to earn a 1-1 draw against Moroka Swallows. That point saw them maintain their seventh place position on the log.

When these two sides met earlier in the 20009/10 PSL season it was definitely not a dull affair as six goals were scored on the day. In the end the teams shared the points in a 3-3 draw.

Overall, the two sides have faced each other in 40 official league matches since 1985. Of those games Cosmos have won 18 times whereas Celtic have only won 12 games.
