BidVest Wits attacking midfielder Mark Haskins believes his side now have a fighting spirit which will stand them in good stead for the rest of the season.

The 'Clever Boys' came from behind to beat Mamelodi Sundowns 4-2 on Wednesday night, with Haskins getting his name on the scoresheet in an incredible match.

The victory will have boosted the club's confidence and Haskins feels that they can go on and perform like they did against Sundowns in every fixture they are presented with.

The former Moroka Swallows star told the PSL's website: "It was difficult in the first half because they dominated us in midfield.

"But once we sorted that out I think we were better than them.

"But what was more impressive is the fighting spirit we showed.

"They took the lead, we equalised and then again they took the lead. We knew it was going to be tough but we rose to the occasion."

He continued: "Sundowns have quality players in their squad and for us to beat them the way we did says so much about our character and fighting spirit.

"With this kind of performance we should be able to beat any team."

Haskins, who turned down a move to LA Galaxy in the off-season, has been in fine form since making the move to Milpark.

The former Jomo Cosmos midfielder has three goals to his name already and is eager to build on that statistic as the season progresses.

Haskins added: "I am enjoying myself at Wits and will try to get on the score sheet more. That's a personal goal but on the whole I am here to contribute to our success."
