The Premier Soccer League (PSL) has suspended BidVest Wits coach Roger de Sa for three matches after finding him guilty of verbally abusing referee Daniel Bennett.

The incident occurred in the Absa Premiership match against SuperSport United at BidVest Stadium on 01 November 2009.

De Sa was also fine R60 000, of which R10 000 of the fine is payable immediately and the remaining R50 000 suspended for 12 months.

The Wits coach together and club CEO Stan Whiting appeared before the PSL Disciplinary Committee on Tuesday evening on charges of verbal abuse, but the charge against Whiting was dropped after consultation with Bennett.

De Sa pleaded guilty as charged and was sentenced accordingly, however, he has seven days to appeal against the decision if he so wishes.

He was also ordered to send a written apology to Bennett while Wits have been ordered to host a press conference within the next 7 days where De Sa will make a public apology for his actions.

Wits were further ordered to pay the costs of the two sittings amounting to R42 000.
