Absa Premiership newcomers Mpumalanga Black Aces maintained their unbeaten home record with a 2-0 win over AmaZulu at the Ackerville Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

Amazayoni secured the victory thanks to two goals by Clifford Mulenga, who has now scored three times in his last two matches for the club.

Usuthu, after this defeat, remain rock bottom of the table and the pressure will be growing on coach Neil Tovey unless he can inspire his misfiring team to start stringing some good results together.

On nine minutes AmaZulu striker Dumisani Ngwenya tried his luck from a kick about 25 yards from goal but his effort didn?t trouble goalkeeper Oscar Ramagodi.

Aces took the lead just before the midway point of the first half when former Bidvest Wits and Thanda Royal Zulu player Clifford Mulenga fired home a low shot from outside the penalty area.

On 33 minutes Amazayoni almost made it 2-0, with Lindokuhle Mbatha heading just over the crossbar after a good free kick from Jacob Machaka.

The last chance of the first half also fell the way of Aces ? striker Madoda Motha got a good sight of goal from just outside the 18-yard area but pulled his shot wide of Nicolas Gindre?s goal posts.

The home side looked to change things up tactically at the start of the second half, introducing Esau Mtsweni in the place of Joseph Mthombeni, while Usuthu bolstered their backline with Smangaliso Biyela.

On 62 minutes Mulenga grabbed his second goal of the game and doubled Aces? lead, heading home a cross from Rudiger Gilbert. The Zambian player capitalised on some poor marking in the AmaZulu defence, a problem that has been plaguing the KwaZulu-Natal side throughout the 2009/10 season.

Mulenga looked to complete a hat-trick ten minutes after scoring his second but fired his long range effort wide of goal, while Mtsweni?s goal-bound free kick was tipped over by Gindre on 77 minutes.
