Aces target another win
Tue, 27 Oct 2009 12:00
A revived Mpumalanga Black Aces side will travel to KwaZulu-Natal to take on Maritzburg United in an Absa Premiership match at the Woodburn Stadium on Wednesday evening (kick-off 7.30pm).
Aces, somehow, after losing two matches prior managed a shock 1-0 win over Bidvest Wits in their last league encounter. The defeat was the 'Students' first of the season, handed to them by the PSL's newly promoted side.
That victory saw Aces leap above their upcoming opponents on the league table. In fact only one place and one point separate United and the Black Aces on the log.
The Mpumalanga side are in 11th spot on 12 points while Maritzburg have 11 points in 12th place.
Maritzburg will be the more desperate of the two sides for a win considering they have not managed one in their last six league games. In their last Premiership encounter they played to a disappointing 1-1 draw against Jomo Cosmos.
The meeting on Wednesday night at the Woodburn Stadium will be the first ever official league encounter between these two sides, and one thing is for sure, both will give their all to register the first win.
