In one of the most forgettable games of the Absa Premiership season, AmaZulu and MP Black Aces played to a boring goalless draw on Sunday afternoon at the Moses Mabhiba Stadium.

The only thing pretty about the football on the day was the beautiful world class stadium. The football was rather dull and dreary as both sides looked a little lackluster.

Neither AmaZulu nor Aces were impressive, especially in the midfield where both sides often gifted possession back to their opponents with some horrible passing.

The only real talking point of the first half, and the entire match for that fact, came in the 24th minute when Bradley Ritson struck the woodwork with a powerful shot from just inside the box. A nice passing movement saw the AmaZulu striker find some space and with a snap shot he had Energy Murambadora scrambling across his goals. Luckily enough for the Aces keeper the ball hit the post.

The only other effort of the half came four minutes later when Gilbert Mushangazike forced the AmaZulu keeper into a save with a long range shot that lacked any power.

Pere Ariweriyai also came close to scoring in the 41st minute, but not in his opposing team’s net. The AmaZulu captain tried to cushion a header back to his goalkeeper, but instead forced Mbongeni into the save of the match as he dove at full stretch to push the ball around the post for a corner-kick.

The second 45 minutes was more of the same as both teams struggled to pass the ball around often gifting possession back to their opponents.

The only chance of the second half came three minutes from time when Ayanda Dalmini tried his luck from about 20 yards out. Murambadoro, however, was on hand to punch his powerful shot away from danger.

It was a rather scrappy affair on the day with both teams looking a little lackluster. One would think Aces would be desperate for the win regarding their 15th position on the log, but the way they played they deserve to be there.

The game ended 0-0 and will quickly be forgotten by both teams.
