Thabang Rooi picked up the Man-of-the-Match award for his display in the Soweto derby and he admitted that the two sides failed to put on an exhibition for the fans.
South Africa's football-loving public expected a spectacle before Kaizer Chiefs squared off against Orlando Pirates at the Orlando Stadium.
But the match was a cagey affair and failed to live up to expectations.
Rooi, a defender, explained that it was a difficult encounter.
"It was a tough game. We were determined not to concede a goal, but for the fans it was a bad game," he told the press after the conclusion of the goalless draw.
Rooi added that he was happy with the result.
"However, we played well defensively and in attack. It was a good team effort and we succeeded in not allowing Pirates to score."
"Both teams defence was good and that is why it is a draw. Our aim was not to concede and we did not so this is a good thing for us.
"We worked very well together and all credit to them for a job well done," he said.
