Kaizer Chiefs head coach Vladimir Vermezovic could not hide his delight following the victory over Jomo Cosmos this past weekend.

Amakhosi have struggled in the early stages of the season but managed to pull off a much-needed 2-1 victory away at Cosmos on Sunday afternoon.

Vermezovic believes that Chiefs' confidence is slowly returning but the club are in need of a few more victories before he can be sure.

Vermezovic told SAPA: "Once we have a couple more wins under our belts the confidence will return.

"This was a vital win for us.

"The three points were important and I am delighted with the effort."

Chiefs face Ajax Cape Town in their next league fixture and the Serbian mentor is looking to settle a score when his side travel to Cape Town.

He continued: "That (MTN8) semifinal against Ajax was a brilliant game. But I do not expect something quite as exciting and tense.

"This time as we are chasing league points which we badly need.

"I am quietly confident we can turn the tables on Ajax on Sunday in Cape Town."

The victory over Cosmos came at a price for the Soweto-based outfit as Nkosinathi Nhleko, Tshifiwa Mmbooi and Reneilwe Letsholonyane all picked up injuries.

While Vermezovic is confident that the injuries are not serious, he does admit that he was worried about what effect they may have on the outcome of the match.

He added: "We lost Letsholonyane in the first half with an ankle injury and then in the second half lost Nhleko and (Tshifiwa) Mmbooi with injuries that upset our rhythm.

"We have six days to get Letsholonyane fit. I am hoping the injury is not too serious."
