Golden Arrows midfielder Thanduyise Khuboni admits that the MTN8 final was a distraction to their league campaign and admits the team are now focused on finishing their season in a respectable position.

Khuboni was speaking to Football365.co.za after training in preparation for the side's crunch league match against Kaizer Chiefs at Orlando Stadium on Wednesday night.

The Soweto ground was also the venue for the Cup final last Saturday when Arrows thrashed Ajax Cape Town 6-0 to record their first trophy since promotion to the top flight ten seasons ago.

"I would say that the Cup was in our minds and maybe a distraction to our progress," Khuboni said.

"It was the players and the club's first final, and of course, the thought of winning R8 million for first prize was too much."

Khuboni also added that the team spirit has been at an all time high after the victory, but would not take anything away from their immediate focus of beating Chiefs, a moment that would certainly crown a good week for the outfit.

Arrows have won just two of their 11 matches this season and are positioned ninth in the standings.

But Chiefs have not fared better as they have lost five of their 11 games and are eighth. Three of those losses are at the same venue ? Chiefs' home ground for the season.

"We have a point to prove and want to push for a better position," said Khuboni.

"I also know the importance of doing well against big clubs, but the atmosphere has been good at camp and I'm happy we have no injuries in the team with the same players that did duty last Saturday available to play."
