Arrows aiming at 'Downs

Golden Arrows will be looking to break a five-match winless streak in the league when they take on Mamelodi Sundowns in an Absa Premiership match at the Chatsworth Stadium on Saturday afternoon (kick-off 3.30pm).
While Arrows have suffered just two defeats in 14 league outings, they have also recorded a whopping 10 draws, making them the undisputed 'draw kings' of South Africa?s top flight league.
Coach Manqoba Mngqithi will be concerned that his team has won just two Absa Premiership matches, the last being a 1-0 victory over AmaZulu in late September. Their most recent outing was a 1-1 draw at home to Bloemfontein Celtic.
In and of itself, the stalemate with Phunya Sele Sele was not the worst result, as the Bloemfontein club are placed within the top five of the league standings. Yet it was the sixth home draw from seven games that 'Abafana Bes'thende' have recorded.
The newly-crowned MTN8 champions will hope to take out their frustrations on Sundowns this weekend and the inconsistent Tshwane team could be good opponents to face as far as Arrows are concerned.
The 'Brazilians' may come into this match having just won their last two matches — 3-1 over Jomo Cosmos and 1-0 against Moroka Swallows — but their record of six wins, four draws and four losses suggests that they are due a slip-up.
Coach Hristo Stoitchkov has not yet got his team playing consistent football, but they do possess the league?s most prolific scorer this season: Katlego Mphela has already hit 11 goals, and the likes of Siyabonga Sangweni and Joseph Musonda will have to be at their best to keep the Bafana Bafana hit man quiet.
The teams have met on 18 occasions in the league since 2000/01, with Sundowns winning eight matches to Arrows? six. However, in nine games in KwaZulu-Natal the sides have each won four times against one another.
Last season 'Abafana Bes'thende' defeated Sundowns 4-2 in Pretoria but the 'Brazilians' gained revenge with a 1-0 win in the return match.
