The South African Football Players' Union (SAFPU) has slammed Maritzburg United after their allegations against captain Dikulu Bageta.
Bageta was accused of deliberately missing a penalty against Mpumalanga Black Aces last week in Witbank.
SAFPU believe that Afzal Khan, the club's boss, could not be in a position to comment with regards to his own chequered past at Mamelodi Sundowns.
"It is very unprofessional of Maritzburg United and especially Afzal Khan to claim that Bageta has taken a bribe so that his team can lose a game," a spokesperson told Sowetan.
"Khan should be the last person to speak badly about players considering that he was involved in a fraud case involving Jose Torrealba and was subsequently dismissed by Sundowns."
Khan has made no further comments, while SAFPU is urging the PSL to investigate the matter further.
