Free State Stars will be looking to eliminate the slim chance of being drawn into the danger zone at the bottom of the Absa Premiership when they host Maritzburg United at the Charles Mopeli Stadium on Wednesday evening (kick-off 7.30pm).

Stars suffered a 1-0 loss away to AmaZulu last week. It was their first loss to the KwaZulu-Natal side since the 2001/02 season.

The result left 'Ea Lla Koto' somewhat in danger, as second-from-bottom MP Black Aces are five points adrift and could overhaul them if Stars lost both of their two remaining matches and AmaZayoni won theirs.

Maritzburg United have no such worries. In fact, they will be pushing for a top eight place as they are just two points off eighth-placed Moroka Swallows with two games left in the season.

The Team of Choice recorded a morale-boosting 2-1 win over Orlando Pirates last week, their second successive triumph at the newly refurbished Harry Gwala Stadium.

The teams have met five times in the PSL since the 2005/06 season. Amazingly enough, all of those league matches have ended in draws, four of them 1-1 and one of them 0-0.

When the sides met earlier this season they played to a 1-1 draw in Pietermaritzburg. Brice Aka and Duncan Lechesa scored for the 'Team of Choice' and 'Ea Lla Koto respectively'.
