Maritzburg United will be looking to continue their fine home form when they host Santos in their last Absa Premiership match of the 2009/10 PSL season at the Harry Gwala Stadium on Saturday afternoon (kick-off 3.30pm).

The 'Team of Choice' has been in fine form in their home games, winning their last two home league matches by beating Orlando Pirates and Golden Arrows. Their last league match, however, saw them play to a goalless draw against Free State Stars.

"A Victory will ensure a good finish in the league and will put us in good stead ahead of the knockout competitions," Maritzburg captain Fadlu Davids told his club's official website.

He added: "We want to say thank you to our supporters for amazing support throughout the season and give them another dose of exciting soccer."

Santos were not as lucky in their most recent league match as they went down 1-0 at home to AmaZulu.

At present six places and nine points separate the two teams on the league table. United are in tenth place on 35 points while Santos are in fourth spot on 44 points.

Maritzburg will be looking for the win in order to jump above AmaZulu on the log in order to finish in ninth. Santos, on the other hand, are just looking to consolidate their fourth place spot as they cannot move higher up the table.

When these two teams face each other earlier in the 2009/10 PSL season Santos thumped Maritzburg 4-0.

Overall the two teams have only faced each other in seven official league matches since the 2005/06 season. Of those games the People?s Team have won four matches to United?s two victories.
