According to a report in the Daily News, Comitis - who was in Athens to watch last night's Champions League Final between Liverpool and AC Milan - said it had was club policy to reward their players in such a situation.

The 'Urban Warriors' boss was understandably hopeful that Ajax would down the 'Brazilians' for a whopping fourth time in six months.

"We need to show that Ajax are a force to be reckoned with. People should start taking us seriously. What a better way of proving that we are the best by beating the league champions," said Comitis.

He added: "I'm sure that the incentives will spur the players on to outplay Sundowns. We've got a quality side and Saturday will prove that we have grown from strength to strength."

Comitis also praised coach Muhsin Ertugral, saying the Turkish-born coach had performed miracles with the players since taking the reins from Gordon Igesund.

"He helped us quickly climb up the ladder," said the Ajax CEO, "In fact, I believe that he deserves to be Coach of the Season."

Meanwhile, Comitis also announced that Ajax would not be buying or releasing players during the close season. Instead, they have promoted four youngsters to the senior squad.

Comitis added that they would be prepared to release Ertugral from his contract only on condition that he joins a European club. There is, of course, plenty of speculation doing its rounds at present with all the current vacancies in SA's top-flight.
