Re-appointed Bafana Bafana coach Carlos Alberto Parriera has stated that he is overjoyed to be back at the helm of the South African national squad.

He said the team can improve its game but it will take massive dedication from the coaches and the players themselves.

"It is not enough to have the country behind us. Only by having extremely good working we can perform well in the competition."

Parreira said he would need all the squad?s players to be available for practice sessions ahead of next year?s world cup spectacular.

He has also called on the nation to support the players, despite a run of poor performances and recent controversy in South Africa?s soccer circles.

"We want to see all the people putting South African flags on their houses, showing that the country is behind us. And of course we have to work hard."

He takes over from Joel Santana, who was ousted by the South African Football Association earlier this month after a rung of eight losses in his last nine matches in charge.

Parreira says he is confident he will be able to improve the team?s performance with less than a year to go ahead of the soccer spectacular.
