Orlando Pirates midfielder Dennis Masina is confident that he can break into Ruud Krol's starting XI, despite the tough competition on the flanks.

The Swazi international is battling for a starting berth with players like Teko Modise, Dikgang Mabalane, Bennett Chenene and Phenyo Mongala but is adamant he will challenge for a position out wide.

Masina told the club's website: "Every player needs such competition to move forward and improve his game. I am here for the challenge and ready for it.

"There is no doubt we have outstanding players in the team and I don't think there are many other clubs in the league with so much talent in one team. The standard here is very high, particularly on the flanks."

The 27-year-old joined the Soweto outfit from reigning league champions SuperSport United. He has not featured for the club as yet and said that he is waiting for his opportunity.

"I knew before I signed that it will be a tough fight to play, but I am patient and waiting for my opportunity to prove my worth in the team," he concluded.
