Orlando Pirates skipper Lehlohonolo Seema has expressed his delight at the way the Bucs have started the season.
The Soweto giants currently sit at the top of the PSL standings two points ahead of nearest rivals Wits, but the 29-year-old has urged his team-mates not to get carried away by their promising run of form.
He told the club's official website: "I think we have to be happy overall with the way the team has performed so far in the new season.
"To think that we have been on top of the log for a while now makes one proud.
"Nonetheless, the battle is still far from being over as the season is still long and very demanding, it's going to be a real test of character for us, however I believe we are equal to the task as the management has brought in good players to strengthen the squad."
The former Bloemfontein Celtic man, who is on the road to recovery after being sidelined with a groin injury, has hailed the defensive effort Ruud Krol's charges have put in so far this season having conceded only one goal in nine fixtures.
"Of course, I am itching for action, but I'll rather concentrate on healing properly than rush to play. Furthermore, the team is doing very well, especially in defence.
"Look, the guys have only conceded one goal in nine games, that's an awesome record that shows that we have started where we left from the previous season where we recorded the best defensive record," he said.
"Obviously it was nice to join the rest of the guys at training last week, but it was just for a jog around the field, and nothing more. I am pleased that I managed to complete my lapses without any discomfort.
"Though I cannot exactly reveal when I will resume full training with the team, I am extremely glad with my progress so far and I would like to thank our medical team for the good job that they are doing."
