Cosmos seek redemption
Article By:
Jomo Cosmos will be looking to bounce back to winning ways when they host Ajax Cape Town at the Rand Stadium on Wednesday evening (kick-off 7.30pm).
Cosmos have won just one match this season and, as a result, they lie in last place on the log table, three points adrift of second-from-bottom Mpumalanga Black Aces.
'Ezenkosi' suffered their fourth away defeat in the space of just seven games at the weekend, going down 3-1 at the hands of Mamelodi Sundowns.
Ajax, in contrast, have been quite consistent in the league of late and are placed handily in third spot with 22 points, just four behind leaders SuperSport United.
The 'Urban Warriors' were held to a goalless draw by Golden Arrows in their last outing.
The Cape side have been particularly impressive on the road: they are unbeaten and have won four of their five away matches, racking up 13 points from a possible 15.
Cosmos and Ajax have met 18 times in the league since
1999/00. The 'Urban Warriors' have won 10 matches to 'Ezenkosi's six and outscored them 22 goals to 16.
The teams last played each other in the 2007/08 Absa Premiership season when Ajax won 1-0 both home and away.
