Bay United head coach David Bright is still confident that his team will win the league despite 'Umlilo' losing their number one spot in the National First Division (NFD) Coastal Stream to Vasco da Gama following their loss to Nathi Lions.

Although Bay United and Vasco both have 20 points, Vasco's superior goal difference, after beating Carara Kicks 2-1 at the weekend, put the Cape Town side on top of the log.

"It's not the end of the road," Bright told the club's official website.

He added: "We lost a very important game that we should have won. We should have won that game by three or four goals. We play good football but we keep on missing a lot of scoring chances."

"But we have a good team; we do have a team that can take us to the Premier Soccer League. It?s just a matter of working hard."

Bright said the team needed a finisher as current upfront players had proved increasingly incapable of scoring goals.

"If you look at our record so far, midfielders have been scoring, not our strikers," commented Bright.
