Golden Arrows will look to move up the Absa Premiership standings when they host Mpumalanga Black Aces at the Chatsworth Stadium on Wednesday afternoon (kick-off 3.30pm).
Arrows are presently placed 10th on the log, having picked up 22 points from their 18 matches. The KwaZulu-Natal club, who were consistent ?draw kings? earlier in the season, have hit onto some inconsistency of late.
'Abafana Bes'thende's last four matches have brought them two wins and two losses, with a resulting six points taken from a possible 12.
Arrows suffered something of a setback when they were beaten 2-1 by Platinum Stars on the weekend and should they not find some consistency in their form between now and the end of the season they will be in real danger of missing out on the top eight and the chance to defend their MTN8 crown.
Aces will have rather less lofty ambitions than their opponents — their only concern at this stage is picking up enough points to ensure they are not relegated from the top flight.
At present 'AmaZayoni' are in the danger zone, placed 15th on 15 points, the position from which a team will enter the relegation/promotion playoffs with three first division sides.
The good news for the Mpumalanga side is that they are within striking distance of safety — 14th-placed Free State Stars are just two points ahead — but they must start winning games soon.
However, Arrows will be determined to get back to winning ways and the visit of a struggling side provides them with the perfect opportunity to score a confidence-boosting victory.
The sides have met just once before, with their Absa Premiership clash earlier this season ending in a goalless draw.
