Santos will try to get back to winning ways when they host current league leaders and defending PSL champions, SuperSport United, in an Absa Premiership match at Athlone Stadium on Tuesday evening (kick-off 7.30pm).
'The People's Team' are coming into this game off a 1-0 loss to Platinum Stars in their last league match. Now they will take on a in-form United side who are coming into this game off a 2-0 win over Free State Stars.
At present three places and 11 points separate these two sides on the league table. SuperSport are in first place on 51 points, while Santos are in fourth place on 40 points. Santos have, however, played one game less than their upcoming rivals.
When the two teams faced each other earlier in the 2009/10 PSL season they played to an entertaining 2-2 draw at the home of SuperSport.
In the corresponding fixture last season they also played to a draw. This draw, however, was a little less exciting as no goals were scored.
Overall the two teams have faced each other in 31 official league fixtures since 1991. Of those matches Santos have had the better of United, winning nine games whereas SuperSport have won six times.
