Golden Arrows will look to break a three-game losing streak in the Absa Premiership when they host Kaizer Chiefs at the new Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban on Tuesday evening (kick-off 7.30pm).

Arrows have suffered three successive defeats in the league. After losing their last game of 2009 away to Bidvest Wits, they have gone down in two KwaZulu-Natal derbies at the hands of AmaZulu (1-2) and Maritzburg United (0-1).

'Abafana Bes'thende' have dropped to 12th on the log and their hopes of ending in the top half and having a chance to defend their MTN8 title are looking slim unless they can turn around their form.

Fortunately for Arrows, Chiefs have also had a slow start to 2010, drawing two successive matches — 0-0 away to Moroka Swallows and 2-2 at home to Jomo Cosmos — which has effectively ended their hopes of winning the league.

'Amakhosi' are placed third on the table but trail leaders SuperSport United by eight points. With just four games left, it is highly unlikely that they will haul in the league pacesetters and as a result they have little to play for in the remainder of the season other than maintaining a place in the top three.

The teams have met 19 times in the league since the 2000/01 season. Chiefs have won 10 games to Arrows? five and outscored the KwaZulu-Natal team 24 goals to 17.

When they met earlier this season, goals from Kaizer Motaung Jr and Reneilwe Letsholonyane saw the Amakhosi claim a 2-0 win.

It was the fifth consecutive league win for Chiefs over Arrows and the KwaZulu-Natal team will certainly want to end the Amakhosi?s recent dominance over them and claim a victory that would raise their confidence and set them up for a good end to the 2009/10 Absa Premiership season.
