Two teams with hopes of finishing in the top eight of the Absa Premiership, Moroka Swallows and Ajax Cape Town, will meet at the Olympia Stadium on Wednesday evening (kick-off 8pm).
Swallows have had a slow start to 2010, drawing games against Kaizer Chiefs (home, 0-0) and Bloemfontein Celtic (away, 1-1).
Though not bad results in and of themselves, the Soweto side are placed eighth and have three teams immediately below them (Platinum Stars, Maritzburg United and AmaZulu) breathing down their neck.
Ajax has had a mixed start to the New Year. The Cape side beat Platinum Stars 2-0 last week but in their most recent outing they suffered a 1-0 loss at the hands of Mamelodi Sundowns.
The Urban Warriors are placed sixth and look fairly assured of finishing in the top half of the table, but they will have ambitions of moving into the top four or five positions in what remains of the league season.
The teams have met 21 times in the league since the 1999/2000 season. Both Ajax and Swallows have won nine games against one another, with only three matches ending in draws.
Earlier this season the Urban Warriors claimed a 2-0 win over the Birds in Cape Town thanks to a penalty from Dipsy Selolwane and an own goal from defender Gordon Gilbert.
