Chiefs coach Muhsin Ertugral. Gallo
Big challenge for 'Tuks'
Fri, 20 Mar 2009 12:00
Pretoria University will play their biggest game in the history of when they tackle Kaizer Chiefs in the second round of the Nedbank Cup at Atteridgeville's Super Stadium on Saturday night (kick-off 8.15pm).
'Amakhosi' coach Muhsin Ertugral is well aware of that fact. But the Turkish born coach admitted that the pressure well be on his players.
"We will show them respect but at the same time not too much respect," said the Turkish born coach.
He added:" I realise Tuks will be up for the challenge. My team talk to my lads will be simply in that I will tell that I expect them to focus and concentrate for 90 minutes. We want to win this cup and do not want to be on the wrong end of an upset.
"This will be 'Tuks' cup final. They beat us in a pre-season friendly 2-1. I was impressed by the way their defence was organised. I liked the way their central defender (Obert Moyo) organised his defenders. They looked well disciplined."
Ertugral is likely to keep striker Kaizer Motaung Junior on the bench and use Abia Nale and Jose Torrealba as his striker force.
"I will rest Kaizer Junior again and give Torrealba another chance to rebuild his confidence. I was delighted with his goal against BidVest Wits. He has been struggling for confidence and this is the ideal match for him to keep building up that confidence," said Ertugral.
Although Ertugral has a healthy respect for Tuks, he believes that Torrealba, Nale and flying winger Siphiwe Tshabalala will have too much fire power for the young 'Students'.
Chiefs have the most impressive cup pedigree in South African soccer history and when asked if he would rest a few players Ertugral stated emphatically: "No ways!"
Young utility player Jeffery Ntuka who was signed from Belgium side Westerlo and who sustained a slight injury in the 2-1 win over Wits said he was looking forward to playing against 'Tuks'.
"I am loving it at Chiefs; it is just like being at a European club. It was a fantastic move for me. My injury is slight and will not keep me out of Saturday's line-up," he said.
