Ruud Krol has dismissed speculation that he will be fired if Orlando Pirates fail to win any silverware this season.

The Dutch-born coach faces an uncertain future following Pirates' fifth-place finish in the league.

Nevertheless, he has rejected reports which claim he is a cup exit away from being shown the door.

"I have a contract which still has a year to go," Krol told IOL.

"So to me, everything else is nonsense. We haven't had time to talk with management because this has been a busy season.

"Nobody can tell who is going to win the Telkom and Nedbank cups so it's impossible to give anybody an ultimatum like that. That would be unfair."

Pirates start their Telkom Knockout campaign against Bloemfontein Celtic at the Orlando Stadium on Saturday night.
