Golden Arrows and Santos played to a 1-1 draw in tricky underfoot conditions at Chatsworth on Wednesday with the result of the Premier League match a fair reflection of the game.

The home side opened the scoring two minutes after the interval when Santos' Ricardo Skippers scored an own goal whilst trying to make a defensive clearance.

Santos keeper Tshepo Motsoeneng spilled a long throw in from Arrows Joseph Musonda which rolled towards the goal line resulting in Skippers rocketing the ball into his own net.

The visitors, who started the match with an ultra-defensive formation, came out of their shell after going a goal down and as a result the tempo of the match increased appreciably in the second half.

In the 70th minute, the away side went close through a strike from central defender Magogi Gabonamong during a goal mouth scramble, but his opposite number, Siyabonga Sangweni, was on hand to head away the danger.

Santos were on level terms four minutes later through a well struck long range free kick from Erwin Isaacs that crashed into the Arrows goals.

Both teams had opportunities to secure maximum points in the closing minutes. Notably, Richard Henyekane skimmed the top of Santos crossbar with a thunderous shot after dispossessing Wayne Arendse in the penalty area.

This was followed by a firm header from near the penalty spot by Curtis Dossantos five minutes from the end; this was parried to safety by Helton da Rocha in the Arrows goals.
