Ajax Cape Town will try to consolidate a position in the top eight when they play Thanda Royal Zulu in an Absa Premiership match at Newlands Stadium on Thursday night (kick-off 7.30pm).

The 'Urban Warriors' suffered a 3-0 drubbing in the hands of Free State Stars in their last league outing — their third loss in their last four Premiership matches.

'Amabhubesi' on the other hand broke a four-match losing streak by defeating Mamelodi Sundowns 1-0, a key result that helped them move two points clear of second-from-bottom Bloemfontein Celtic.

The teams have met on five previous occasions in top flight league football, and Thanda have yet to defeat the team from Cape Town.

The 'Urban Warriors' have won four of the five matches, outscoring Amabhubesi nine goals to three.

The only time Thanda did not fall to a defeat against Ajax was in their very first meeting back in 2006/07 (when Thanda were still known as Benoni Premier United), a 1-1 draw.

Their league meeting earlier this season saw Ajax emerge triumphant thanks to a goal from Mabhuti Khenyeza.
