The much-anticipated Telkom Knockout Final between Orlando Pirates and Ajax Cape Town will be played at Durban's Chatsworth Stadium on Saturday, 13 December.
The cup committee's decision to host the final in Durban will come as a relief to Ajax, who claimed that the other three proposed venues, Orlando Stadium, Atteridgeville's Super Stadium and Rustenburg's Olympia Park, were not acceptable to them.
"Both clubs were satisfied by the decision to take the match to Chatsworth Stadium," said Ace Ncobo, the Premier Soccer League's (PSL) General Manager for Football.
He added: "Support for any of our PSL matches is always great in the KZN area and I'm sure we can expect a capacity crowd for the match."
The unavailability of stadiums due to preparations for next year?s FIFA Confederations Cup, and the FIFA 2010 World Cup, gave the PSL an unwanted headache when it came to deciding on a venue for a final.
"We are currently experiencing many challenges with stadiums being under construction or closed due to Confederations and World Cup Preparations," said PSL CEO, Kjetil Siem.
"I also want to make it clear, that we have a list of criteria when we chose a stadium for a cup final. We went through this process and a few stadiums emerged, but in the end, it was Chatsworth that proved to be the most suitable venue for this match," explained Siem.
Tickets for this match will be sold at all Computicket outlets, as well as Shoprite and Checkers stores. They range from R30 in the main grandstand, R20 in the open stand and R10 for children.
Meanwhile, the PSL also confirmed that Absa Premiership fixtures involving the two finalists next Wednesday have been postponed to a later date. Those dates are yet to be confirmed.
