After an outstanding Premier League performance, 23 year old striker Harry Kane has regained the Golden Boot title. And it is well-deserved indeed! He ended the season at 29 goals out of 30 matches. He performed as brilliantly in last season’s Premier League, scoring 25 goals in 38 games.
To recap: His four goals against Leicester City were enough to make supporters anxiously wait upon the Golden Boot result. After the match against Hull City on Sunday, Spurs set the score to a brilliant 7-1, with Kane scoring a hat trick in this match. This reaffirmed his position in the running for the title, only to comfortably succeed. Everton’s Lukaku and Arsenal’s Sanchez were also in the running for the title, as the former ended the season with 25 goals and the latter, with 24.
According to BBC Sport Kane’s 29 goals reflect his “highest tally in a league campaign.” Kane has also mentioned that “I said to retain the golden boot would be special with the injuries I've had, so to score 29 goals in 30 games is something I feel proud of.”
Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino, commented on this feat by saying “For me, [Kane] is amazing for the team, scoring goals, and is one of the best strikers in the world.”
“Harry Kane is the sixth player to score a hat-trick in successive Premier League appearances and first since Wayne Rooney in 2011”, says BBC Sport.
Although Kane has proved himself as a stellar striker, many supporters cannot help but wonder when his bridges will burn out? After retaining the Golden Boot award, our guess is not anytime soon!
