Cristiano Ronaldo was named as UEFA’s Player of the Year on Thursday, surpassing Lionel Messi and Gianluigi Buffon.
The Real Madrid forward helped his team to a second consecutive Champions League victory, where he also claimed the title of top scorer for the tournament with 12 goals.
This is the third time he has won the award with Messi winning the prize on two occasions.
The 32-year-old Ronaldo said: "There are the same goals every year, to meet the same challenges, win everything if possible, qualify for the World Cup with my national team.
"This trophy will give me the motivation to keep working hard, never to give up. I am blessed and delighted to be with Real Madrid."
