This Syrian commentator was overcome with emotion as he broke down in tears after the war-torn Syria, who have never reached the World Cup earned a place in the Russia 2018 play-offs.
He celebrated Syria’s World Cup qualifying equaliser against Iran which ended in a 2-2 draw, shouting excitedly for two minutes after Omar Al Soma scored in the 93rd minute.
As cited by AFP, according to a translation by Twitter user Mohamed Osama, who posted footage of the incident, the commentator said:
"The second goal for our national team! The second goal for our national team! Who scored?! Soma! It had to be Soma! It had to be Soma!"
"Allah Soma! The equalising goal! The equalising goal! Pardon me! I've lost it! No one can stop them!"
He repeatedly shouted "Allah!" followed by tears.
