Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero was in a car accident in Netherlands in which he “sustained injuries”, AFP reports.
The 29-year-old was reportedly in a taxi on his way to the airport after watching singer Maluma perform.
It is understood that the Argentine is expected back in Manchester on Friday. He will be under observation by his club’s medical team before the Premier League match.
According to the statement, it is said that “Sergio Aguero will be assessed by club doctors today”. It adds that “The City forward was in Holland on his day off and has sustained injuries."
In addition, AFP cites Amsterdam police spokesperson saying that "a taxi-cab hit a lamp-post". Thereafter, officers attended the accident around 23:00 on Thursday.
The driver and two passengers asked to remain anonymous.
Early on Friday the spokesperson told AFP, "No other vehicles were involved.”
He added that the three people in the taxi "have been transferred to hospital for observation... but there were no bad injuries."
Earlier the evening, Aguero posted a picture on Instagram of himself with Maluma. The caption reads ‘thanks for the invitation.’
