Moroka Swallows returned to their winning ways when they beat Free State Stars 2-1 in a Absa Premiership match at Charles Mopeli Stadium, in QwaQwa tonight.
The match started at a blistering pace with Swallows players moving forward in numbers in search of the lead. They were rewarded in the 20th minute when speedy striker David Radebe converted Cecil Oerson's telling cross to give his side the lead.
However, four minutes later, the Swallows defence was caught napping when Stars winger Matome Madimabe scored the equalizer through a curling freekick. This was after Swallows veteran defender Fabian McCarthy had fouled Stars defender James Matola on the edge of penalty box.
Swallows managed to regroup and piled pressure on the Stars defenders in search of the second goal. Their efforts finally paid off in the 36th minute when striker Elton Merelato made it 2-1 through a clinical finish following a great cross from Mark Haskins on the right
flank.
Stars came back strongly after the break in a bid to level matters. But Swallows second choice goalkeeper Tyron Damons was at his best on the night as he made great saves to frustrate Stars strikers Diyo Sibisi and Madimabe.
