Former US Open champion Kim Clijsters received her expected wild card to the final Grand Slam of the season on Thursday.

The 26-year-old from Belgium has come out of retirement after taking time off to start a family.

The former world number one won the 2005 US Open for her only Grand Slam title and hasn't played at Flushing Meadows since.

France's Kristina Mladenovic and Australia's Olivia Rogowska also received wild cards, along with Americans Alexa Glatch, Vania King, Gail Brodsky and Christina McHale.

The draw for the tournament is on 27 August, and the event begins on 31 August.
